Situation:
A leading provider of veterinary products and services suffered from ineffective demand planning and lacked clarity on what was driving their inventory levels. With 54 days of inventory on hand distributed across 13 locations, they had $200MM tied up in ambiguous inventory.

Actions:

  • Began with interviews, data analysis and review of the client’s existing efforts on current-state process mapping
  • Performed inventory segmentation and characterization, including SKU analysis, classification, and velocity
  • Evaluated client KPIs, Business Intelligence tools, and management control practices
  • Defined comprehensive plan to achieve optimized inventory levels and deploy enhanced Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) processes to achieve desired business plan and customer service performance
  • Articulated the management control practice improvements required to enable sustainable performance
Kormac Results: Delivered actionable plan to: Reduce inventory on hand by 5 days (~10%). Deliver $17 million to $20 million inventory reduction by year-end. Enhance management controls for performance sustainability.
